Bottomless Brunch at The Mailbox, Lincoln

Every now and then, the best thing you can do for your business is step away from the desk. Today, that meant swapping the office for a bottomless brunch at The Mailbox in Lincoln. With work put to one side, we headed out together for an afternoon of cocktails, spirits, pizza and a proper chance to relax. It turned out to be exactly the kind of break we both needed.

A well-earned day away from the office

Running a business can make it surprisingly difficult to switch off. There is always another message to answer, another job to finish or another idea demanding attention. Taking the day out gave us permission to pause that constant list and enjoy ourselves without watching the clock. It was still time spent together as a team, just with considerably better drinks and no computer screens in sight.

The bottomless brunch lasted two and a half hours, giving us plenty of time to settle in and enjoy the occasion. It never felt like a rushed lunch squeezed into a busy day. Instead, it became a full afternoon experience: relaxed, cheerful and filled with the sort of conversation that is easy to miss when you are both concentrating on work.

Cocktails, spirits and colourful favourites

Of course, the drinks were a major part of the fun. The cocktails and spirits kept flowing throughout the session, with plenty of choice to keep things interesting. Two drinks captured the mood especially well: the Rumbingo and the classic Sex on the Beach.

The Rumbingo brought a bold, tropical feel to the table and was an easy choice for a carefree afternoon. Alongside it, the bright and fruity Sex on the Beach looked every bit as cheerful as it tasted. Between the colourful glasses, relaxed atmosphere and the novelty of being away from our usual routine, it felt like a mini celebration in the middle of the week.

Bottomless brunch is as much about the experience as the drinks themselves. It is the chance to slow down, try something different and enjoy having nowhere else to be for a couple of hours. Being able to share that time made it even better. We laughed, chatted and raised a glass to getting out of the office for once.

Pizza to keep us going

With two and a half hours of cocktails and spirits ahead of us, food was definitely essential. Luckily, the brunch included a pizza each, which did an excellent job of soaking everything up. There is something satisfyingly uncomplicated about pairing cocktails with pizza: no fuss, no formality, just proper comfort food alongside colourful drinks.

Having our own pizzas also meant there was no awkward negotiation over the last slice. We could each enjoy our meal at our own pace while sampling the drinks and making the most of the afternoon. It was filling enough to keep the brunch going comfortably and made the whole experience feel like a real treat rather than simply a few drinks out.

Good company makes the difference

The best part of the day was not any individual cocktail or even the pizza. It was having time for the two of us to relax together. When you work side by side, conversations can easily become dominated by deadlines, plans and problems that need solving. A change of scene creates space to reconnect without every discussion turning into another item on the to-do list.

That is why days like this matter. They give you a chance to remember that behind all the work, there are people putting their energy into making things happen. A shared laugh over a Rumbingo can be every bit as valuable for morale as a productive morning in the office. We came away feeling refreshed, cheerful and very glad we had made the time.

Our bottomless brunch at The Mailbox in Lincoln was a fantastic day out from beginning to end. Two and a half hours of cocktails and spirits, a pizza each, and some genuinely enjoyable time together made it a memorable escape from the usual routine.

Tomorrow, it will be back to the office and back to business. For today, though, we were happy to swap keyboards for cocktails, enjoy the Rumbingo and Sex on the Beach, and let the pizza take care of the rest.
