Donington in Your Blood: The New Donington Park Track Hoodie

Some circuits feel like places you visit. Donington Park feels like a place you already know, even before you have ridden through the gate for the first time. The names have been part of British motorsport for generations: Redgate, Craner Curves, the Old Hairpin, McLean’s and Coppice. You hear them in race commentary, talk about them with mates and eventually find out for yourself why riders speak about the circuit with so much respect.

That feeling is the inspiration behind our new Donington Park Track Hoodie, the latest design in the Chicken Strips Track Collection.

This one is made for the riders who have spent an early morning unloading a bike in the paddock, watched the clouds while trying to decide on tyre pressures, or stood at the fence listening to a bike drive hard towards Starkey’s. It is also for everyone who has watched Donington racing from home and promised themselves they will get there one day.

A layout every rider recognises

Donington’s track map is instantly familiar, but it is the way those sections connect that gives the circuit its character. Redgate starts the lap before the track drops through Hollywood and into Craner Curves. The speed builds, the elevation changes and suddenly the circuit is asking much bigger questions than it appeared to from the paddock.

The Old Hairpin, Starkey’s Bridge, McLean’s and Coppice each add another piece to the lap. Then there is the run through the Esses and around the Melbourne Hairpin on the Grand Prix layout. It is technical, flowing and properly fast, with the kind of corners that stay in your head while you are driving home.

We wanted the hoodie to capture that full lap rather than simply putting the words “Donington Park” across the back. The large rear design places the circuit layout at its centre, with the key corners labelled around it and the track coordinates worked into the artwork. There is enough detail for someone who knows the place to stop and follow the route, but the whole thing still reads as a bold Chicken Strips graphic from across the paddock.

Race-track detail without generic race merch

The design uses sharp white lettering with bright blue and orange accents against a black hoodie. Distressed brush strokes, technical marks and paddock-inspired details give it the rougher edge we wanted for the Track Collection. It looks fast without relying on the same chequered flags and generic racing slogans that seem to appear on everything.

The back also carries “Support Your Local Race Track”. That line matters to us. Places like Donington are more than strips of tarmac. They are where riders improve, racers take their first steps, families make weekends of it and complete strangers end up helping each other with tools, fuel or a stubborn paddock stand. British motorsport would be a much poorer place without them.

On the front, a smaller Donington Park chest print keeps things clean and wearable. The sleeve carries the Track Collection’s signature GRIP / RIP / FULL / SEND / IT artwork, tying the whole piece together when you see it from the side. It is a loud design, but every part has a reason to be there.

Built for cold starts and late finishes

Anyone who has done a UK track day knows the weather can change faster than the session board. A warm afternoon can turn into a cold final pack-up, and the paddock always seems several degrees cooler when you are standing still after the last session. This is the hoodie you throw on over a base layer when the leathers come off, wear while checking the bike between runs, and keep within reach for the drive home.

It is printed to order on a black hoodie and is available in sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL. The price is £45.

As with every real printed garment, there can be small differences from the digital mockups. Screens display colours differently, fabric has its own texture and ink settles into each hoodie in a slightly different way. Artwork placement and scale may also shift slightly between garment sizes so the print remains balanced across the full range. We would rather explain that honestly than pretend clothing behaves like a flat computer screen.
