Do Not Let The Bike Sit Dirty
Sometimes you get home tired and the bike is filthy. Fair enough. But letting wet grime sit for weeks is where problems begin. Dirt holds moisture, hides damage, and makes every later job more annoying.
You do not need a concours clean after every ride. A rinse, a careful wash when needed, a dry, and attention to the chain and exposed metal goes a long way. The aim is not perfection. It is stopping neglect from becoming normal.
Clean bikes are easier to inspect and nicer to work on. That alone makes the effort worth it.
